Reiki
What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a laying-on of
hands healing technique which is probably thousands of years old. It is thought
to have first been used by Tibetan Buddhist monks but was rediscovered in the
late 1800's by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist. The Usui system of
Reiki is a very simple but powerful form of healing, which is easily given and
received by anyone.
Rei - means 'Universal', i.e. it is present everywhere. It understands each
individual completely, knowing the cause of all problems and what to do to heal
them.
Ki - is the 'Life Force'. It is believed to be the energy associated with
our thoughts, emotions and spiritual existence.
Reiki - therefore, can be defined as 'the
spiritually guided universal life force of consciousness and intelligence'.
Reiki Treatment
The Reiki healing energy moves through the healer working on the healer
before being channeled through the recipient. As it is channeled, the healer's
own energies are never depleted. In fact, the more a Reiki practitioner gives
of the energy, the more is received. Reiki knows exactly where to go and what
to do - both, for the healer and the recipient.
All healers use the life force or ki, but not all use Reiki. The Reiki
energy works on a different vibration and is only available after a correct
initiation has been given by a Reiki Master. It is widely accepted that people
who already do healing work experience an increase of at least 50% in the
strength of their healing energies after receiving the Reiki attunement.
Once initiated, or attuned, Reiki treatments are given by the
practitioner, who, with the intent to heal, simply places his or her hands on
the person to be healed. The Reiki energy has a way of naturally flowing to the
area where it is most needed and therefore there is no conscious direction
required by the practitioner.
After a Reiki treatment the recipient often feels an overwhelming feeling
of well-being and relaxation. Frequently
recipients report an improved sleep pattern. Reiki offers a wonderful treatment
in combination with a massage, deepens the wellbeing and healing effect. Please

There is a different way of teaching this healing practice if it even
can be called as such. In my experience it is like "When the student is
ready, the master comes into his/her life". Therefore - a Reiki attunement
can only be transpired by a Reiki master.
In this process specific chakras are opened and are creating a special
link or connection between the student and the source of Reiki. A Reiki
attunement is an energetic and therefore spiritual experience. It is guided by
consciousness and intelligence of infinite source, or the essence in existance.
An attunement is certainly attended by Reiki guides or other spiritual beings
who assist the process, and also by individual spiritual guides or teachers of
the student. Some have mystical experiences, personal messages, healing effect,
visions and/or past life experiences during an attunement as the psychic
sensitivity like opening of the so called third eye is increased. In divine
time of the attuned Reiki practitioner there will be uplifting steps of
personal evolution and growth.
